Animal farm.
Film screenings at the Makerspace?
By the way the suggestion of workshops and events relating to the films I’d going down very well indeed!
Will need work, but it probably plays to our strengths.
No
They’ve going to get a horse box for you as well when the space is finished .
Ps i think it’s relevant one of the theams is how susiaty treats the makers.
And its not good
A horsebox? It’s a deal, if I can get some pretty ribbons?
That is what they told Boxer as well .
Anyway my ‘No’ to Animal Farm was a dictatorial joke.
All suggestions are welcome.
But some are more welcome then others.
Next stop the Knacks yard.
At least I can get a rest
To clarify: we set up the @roles at least in part to find a better way of running things then ten mile long threads culminating in polls of dubious vslue.
So I think we need to have this thread as the place for all ideas no matter how crazy and have a few people hone them and come up with finalised plans. Of course it can be a more nuanced process towards ‘convergence’.
As film showing is an event the team should be Jackie, me plus 1/8th Toby (as we are the @events folk!) plus possibly a couple of others who are keen to get stuck into this festival.
I’ve kept quiet but yes I’m happy to pitch in on the actuals of this. And film is - partly, and very digitally - what I do.
To add to the whacky pool: show an episode of hunkin’s secret life of machines, followed by recreating the take-apart and comedy demo-hack ourselves, in real life. Surely can’t be hard to find a sacrificial washing machine or sommat?
Damn. I’ve just scrapped one…
Damn that’s a good idea. I’d almost want to do a different episode each Friday
For the record, the episodes are:
Vacuum Cleaner
Sewing Machine
Central Heating System
Washing Machine
Refrigerator
Television Set
Car
Internal Combustion Engine
Quartz Watch
Telephone
Radio Set
Video Recorder
There’s a great bit in that last one where they record audio onto a moving bandsaw blade with a powerful magnet
Great!
No idea if they’d go for it. Worth a try. Is Hunkin based in London? Worth approaching?
Let’s do it anyway some time…
Suffolk according to Wikipedia.
We’d have to approach him one way or the other as it’s clearly his ‘thing’ if not strictly his IP (TV production company? who knows… there’s a secret life of machines bit of the Science Museum, for what it’s worth.)
It also might take more prep-time than we imagine (and a working Makerspace?). But it would be f’ing great, and potentially press-worthy.
Secret life of machines-live on stage!
If we did that, we could then go on to recording digital info onto the bandsaw. Hello comedy rube goldberg / heath-robinson Arduino project…
Yes, but that’s also a danger: we can’t reboot his whole franchise for the stage ourselves, so there’s a middle-ground to be found that is good for all parties.
