Woodworking night Monday 6 June 7:30 pm

Hello everyone @members ! as you can see here

we have electricity in the workshop so our meeting can be much more productive! Unfortunately we shouldn’t use The big fancy tools because a lack of risk assessments but I’m sure that a lot can be done anyway!
We have a lot to do for the workshop and as always personal project are absolutely welcome!
At the moment the workshop needs a bit of tiding, I’ll be here tomorrow from 4:30, can anyone help me a bit? (I’m single handed at the moment, therefore particularly slow)!

Wow thanks guys, especially joe ! Can’t wait to see all the tools in action.

How should we go about the risk assessments ? Do we have a template to follow or do we need to make one ? An editable pdf or a web form would be really quick to fill out, just a few clicks, might make it less hassle. Any thoughts ?

Won’t be able to make it tomorrow night unfortunately, I’m working abroad. I’ll be there next week though !

We’ve had a few stabs at it before. A quick search reveals many threads.

Ideally, this base-level stuff is something the woodworking group can take on as its own project (with its own reward!)

So what is the situation with RAs?

To me the compicteed and involved part is devising the tool inductions.

Hi Stefano

I’ve just joined up with you guys so was going to head down at 7:30, but I have the afternoon off so if you need an extra hand I’m happy to head down at 4:30 and get on with some sorting / tidying.

I’ll come down closer to 7 and bring a lap top, lets get cracking on those RA’s and inductions

Perfect! Thank you very much!

I will try and get down tonight , but if I don’t remember that tool control is still very still very basic.
We need to hear from tom how many groups we can get from the members system and thus the tool induction groups .

The membership system cannot support individual tool access so for the time being it will have to be done in groups

1 hand tool workshop and plug in stuff exept router and skill saw

2 drill press , band saw , router

3 router table , mitre saw , lathe , planer

4 table saw . Skill saw

Just my first thoughts I’d the membership system can handle 4 groups.

The spindle it going to remain out of service until me and Stefano have learned to use it.

Hi all, have just signed up to the group as a member - although first payment has not yet been taken. May I pop along tonight anyway to suss the place out?

I have a few simple woodworking projects I’d like to get cracking on, but also keen to help out with the wider initiative in any way I can.

Tom

I wuold like to be clear with everyone that the workshop is at the moment in a "beta version"
everything is working but we need to keep an eye to safety and legal requirements (risks assessments and inductions)
also we need to sort out little layout issues like storage ecc!
I’m sure that all together we can crack this on and improve the functionality of the space in no time!!
that said every input is welcome !!

Old membership system:

Access levels 0-50

0 = New member

50 = Trustee/admin to membership system + full access to the system

10 = Door
11 = Door + Laser
12 = Door + Laser + Maintainer
13 = Door + Laser + Tool Control A
14 = Door + Laser + Tool Control A + B
15 = Door + Laser + Tool Control A + B + C
16 = Door + Laser + Maintainer + Tool Control A
17 = Door + Laser + Maintainer + Tool Control A + B
18 = Door + Laser + Maintainer + Tool Control A + B +C

20 = Shutter + Door
21 = Shutter + Door + Laser
22 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Maintainer
23 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Tool Control A
24 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Tool Control A + B
25 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Tool Control A + B + C
26 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Maintainer + Tool Control A
27 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Maintainer + Tool Control A + B
28 = Shutter + Door + Laser + Maintainer + Tool Control A + B + C

Depends on the number of levels you want and if they are sequencial, i.e. you have one then the next, or if you need to be able to opt in and out.

Sorry, I’m not sure that I understand, is this for the tool control? We can really have all this categories?

Hi there! I’ll be at the space in 20 min!

Yes/no you can have A , A+B, A,B+C

Can we get a D as well using the 30’s ?

Yes that will do it , we will do the induction around that and use akeys for what is left over.
D would be nice

You can’t use 30s because there is no space between 18 > 20…

Are you clear that there is no way for someone to only have B or C access, they would have to have A + B not just B, and similarly they can’t have C and A or C only, they have to have A, B & C.

Yes I understand that.

How about we put laser techs on a key so we can have a D please.

Just to make the induction process less "all day "

It’s about the fact there are already people with these codes assigned in the database so it’s not possible to change this easily.
