Washing machine as tool for printing textiles process (and also washing hand towels) - in snug?

Can we? Obviously we should if we can , just not sure about plumbing it. But now the woods gone and the architecture desks are out of the snug, it could squeeze in there somewhere…??

We can afford it

IF we can plumb it in

Do we vote on it?

based on the availability of laundrette in the area, and adversity to taking up space, i’d say we buy
10-15 towels and just bring them to laundrette every sat/sun whenever

Also useful for pre washing fabric, washing fabric after fabric dying to test fade.

Would be good to wash the towels on the space also.

If budget allows. Would be more cost affect them a weekly trip to a launderette. If we could get one off freecycle it would just be the weekly running cost.

That’s a great solution for that.

This machine’s primary purpose would be dying fabrics, which I think owing to the printing setup we’re about to get, is fairly essential, thoughts @silkscreentechs?

Anyone know why we can’t get plumbing for the long sink through the wall into the snug for this machine theoretically?

Doesn’t have to be this month or even year, just registering this is on a ‘wants’ list, planting the seed…

Sorry a little off topic but is there potential space for a mini dark room back there?

Ha, waaay off topic :yum: Start a new thread and search for old ones I think it was discussed. I suspect the welding contingent outnumber you though a sadistic part of me would like to see you try and tell @joeatkin2 he’s not getting a welding space and instead it’s going to be a dark room  You never know… Also (legal disclaimer) maybe nothing goes in the snug, fire regs etc…

Great idea, really useful. Those towels and tea towels have things living on them, so I use tonnes of kitchen roll instead. Freecycled washing machine not a bad idea. New ones not expensive, especially after Christmas in the sales. Dying fabric really important to get the Screen Printing up to a good standard. If there’s a vote - which there should be for all purchases - then mine is Yes!

From a building regs point of view, actually inhabiting the snug is forbidden under part B (escape from fire), because it is a “room within a room within a room”

Therefore, the rear wall was designed to be knocked out between the piers, to extend the Messy and Dusty rooms.

“Phase 3” as this was known, is firmly on hold until we know exactly what our future at this site involves. In the meantime, we should not be inhabiting or working in the snug.

Beside the dishwasher?

sadly not enough room under the sink I don’t think.

Hand towels easy enough to wash at home, or hand wash in sink?

Is that an offer Dermot?

I think there might be if the cupboards got sorted out with clever storage solutions? Plumbing is a bit of a difficult task there, though obviously the dish washer is there? Plumbing is Not my forte

No reason at all it can’t be done technically.

What bout a mini ‘table top’ machine?

You can get low-capacity table-top washing machines. Designed for camper vans etc.

EDIT: Curse you Dermot!

Yeah didn’t know about these, will Google in a mo…

Or how about plumbing it the other side of the dishwasher in the ‘social’, just change the sofas around/change the layout of it somehow?

Or in the corner of the social where the printer is, that’s easy to get to the plumbing from the toilet? Or just inside the front door where the coats are?

I think this would detract from the social area.
