Smaller Hoops for the New Embroidery Machine

I’ve spent a couple of hours this afternoon with the new Brother innov-is 1500 Embroidery Machine and it’s instruction manual and had a great experience. What a fantastic piece of kit! The larger hoop sizes supported (versus our older machine) opens up a world of new and larger possibilities!

However, for my next project (embroidering monograms onto napkins) I’m working at a smaller scale. Therefore, I’m going to need to use a smaller hoop (to avoid huge amounts of stabiliser wastage).

@textilestechs - do we have any plans to acquire smaller hoops for the Innov 1500? If not I’d be happy to buy some and donate them to the space.

A quick search found some very cost effective options, e.g. YICBOR 4 pcs Embroidery Hoop Set SA437 SA438 SA439 SA441 for Brother Babylock (4 in 1) : Amazon.co.uk: Home & Kitchen

The smaller embroidery machine supports 4x4 (10cm x 10cm) - it’s currently having tension issues, which you’re welcome to have a look to see if you can crack it (I’ve not been able to be in the space properly for a while to give it a proper look)

The manual lists a small and medium size - I mentioned it with @jamesnwalker , that maybe it would be nice to get them. (But I don’t think it’s been a pressing priority? I just said it as part of chit chat. Maybe if a few more of us request?)

Actually , while talking about it. What would people’s thoughts on properly stocking a full spectrum of threads for it be, as well?

Hey Brian,

I did flag this up with the other techs, although we need an onboarding from @directors before we can order parts ourselves. Just letting you know I haven’t forgotten!

I have ordered the multi-pack of hoops linked above. I’ll be bringing them down to the space on Friday.

I’ve left the new frames in the embroidery box with the others. I was working with the smallest frame earlier with reasonable success
