This is just an initial post to gauge interest and see who would like to get their hands on something. The profits will all go towards covering screen printing consumables and equipment, so it’s all for a good cause. Plus, the items should look really neat!
The tea towels will have a larger print of the illustration and perfect for framing, using in the kitchen, or as a thank you to loved ones for putting up with the hours we spend at the workshop.
I’ll post some updates once I start printing, but feel free to pop something here or message me directly if you’re interested.
I’ve got a mega high res scan and have been talking to Tim and he’s given me his blessing to use it to raise funds for the space. I’m going to gift him one of each item we use the illustration for as he’s been very gracious and friendly about it.
I was thinking posters as well, the positives I’m getting printed are about 30×60cm and should work nicely on a standard 50×70cm sheet of printmaking paper but can sort out bigger if we want. I’m inclined to go big here.
He’s a really sound fella and have been binge watching his 80s TV show “The Secret Life of Machines”. Highly recommend for those, who like myself, don’t have much understanding about the day to day stuff we use works!
Thanks for the responses! Glad to see the interest is there, I’m heading to Dalston to pick up the positives later this week.
Me and @Nicky_mmnn are converting the underneath of the prep table into a drying box suitable for the larger screen size we need for this project, then we’re rolling!
I’ll stay in touch with updates, very excited about this!
Love it! He seems like a flat out prolific maker, I spotted a donation box he made for St Thomas’ when I was there last for a checkup on the ol’ broken arm.
I’m absolutely in for a shirt! and a tea towel depending on what material it is. I can also help with some additional designs (lettering or something to go on the other side of the shirt) for this or any other maker space prints!
I’ve got the plans all made for this shirt and tea towel, but no reason why we couldn’t have a couple going!
The tea towels and t-shirts are all 100% cotton. I’ve printed with the tea towels before and you can see examples of my prints on them here to gauge how the ink looks on the textile.
I also tested printing on the t-shirts the other week and this was the result, nice coverage and smooth colour!
