The printer claims that the black and magenta toner cartridges are nearly empty.
My wild guess is that it may do a few dozen more black and white prints at reduced quality.

Personally, I would like to have a working printer in the makerspace.
The cartridges are not cheap, so this may be something to be considered as part of general budgeting.

catriges should be in a drawer in the stationery chest of drawers by sofas…or under the printer I was told

Correct! We already have the Magenta cartridge - when it runs out it - it is in the chest of drawers with office supplies and stuff next to sofas / 3 week bins…
We should go ahead and buy a new black cartridge and keep it for when it runs out - they are very reasonable at £41.53 for 16,500 pages:

Magenta cart has just been swapped - it will tell you when it need replacing (more than just low).
Black cart is under the printer - wait and we will replace it when it says to! Cheers!
