Music Focused Open Evening Next Week - 6th November 2019

Hi folks,

I’m down to host the open evening next Wendesday and I thought it might be fun to make it a specialist music night since that’s my thing. Be really good to get a few of the people who make sound based stuff together and maybe a few new members too. Does that sound like a goer?

For those who don’t know me, I’m sound artist, musician and instrument builder. I help run Hackoustic and also the R&D program for Drake Music - making/inventing instruments for disabled musicians. I tend to use the space sporadically during project builds and mostly during office hours so don’t get to meet a lot of people - hence the open evenings!

Hey Tim,

This sounds interesting, I’m a musician/audiovisual artist and I make my own instruments of sorts. Would be great to meet others with similar interests. My membership is currently in process but I would be up for coming in next Wednesday!

Hi Ben,

Fantastic - be great to see you there. Is there any chance you could bring a project or two down?

I know that @Howard is interested as well, but I’m not sure about others. If it seems like there’s an appetite for it then maybe we could make it a monthly thing? I quite enjoyed hosting the open evening last week and was thinking about doing that regularly anyway. I’d really love to have a regular sound hacking meeting to go to :slight_smile:

That sounds great, I have gutted most of my projects for parts (cheap Arduino’s keep blowing up) but I’m sure I can get at least 1 of them back together by Wednesday. I have some new stuff that I’m prototyping so might share some of that too.

Hi Ben,

your work sounds really interesting. I have incorporated sound into some of my installation work before and would be happy to join you guys for the evening. am a new member and still haven’t picked up my access fob!

Ah sorry, I only just saw this!
Would definitely be up for bringing projects down if this becomes a regular thing, but I’m playing a suport slot on Thursday at this: .

so will be rehearsing on Wednesday night… shame or I would love to have come down.
Hackoustic looks really interesting @Timyates, have followed on the various socials!

The Tate Late looks brilliant too, will almost certainly make my way to that!
