Makerspace Lanyards

Events mean name badges, and we’ve got a laser cutter. Here is how to make Makerspace lanyards.

Here’s the finished article –

Each badge takes 79x100mm of red and white acrylic. There’s a PDF each for the red (front) cut-out and rear (white) cut-out. The white ‘M’ parts should friction-fit into the red. Plastic weld or double-sided sticky tape the rear pieces onto the front. The gap in the white is a channel for the lanyard cord, and having pressed in the cord you can stick some tape over to secure.

To get the fit of ‘M’, I needed to offset by 0.1mm outwards for the hole, and 0.1mm inwards for the part pressing in.

Paparazzi shot –

Look at my amazing hair! LOL

I’m going to order some perspex to replace the stock of @tomnewsom I appropriated, plus a bit more so a stock of these can be made.

@unknowndomain So dapper indeed!

@lasertechs – Thinking aloud, perhaps a batch of these could be made as a project for the next laser induction?

A good plan, I’m bored of the ‘let’s cut a boring square’ exercise.

Oh, now I’ve got a list of Makerspace things to un-bore laser inductions =]
