Laser cutting

I’m a new member and was wondering if there Is there anyone around tomorrow morning to supervise with some laser cutting I need to get done.

I am there now but just so you know there is a fault with the laser cutter so it can’t do engraving.

Something has come up, so cant come today, but will you be around tomorrow and/or Tuesday.

The laser cutter isn’t really up and running yet, there is a fault with it and we’ve not had the time to sit down and write a risk assessment and start inductions so technically no, but I have been trying to help when they have a project so we can see what the capabilities are, but because some much has been falling to me and the other trustees recently this hasn’t been a high priority to get it working and no one else really has the expertise.

I fully understand the situation, might it be possible to do it after your work. Im really sorry about asking last minute, but was desperatly looking to get this laser cutting done tomorrow, as im on a deadline to build a model for Thursday/Friday.

Did you manage to find and fix the problem with the power, so that i can maybe finish the laser cutting job.

No @Dermot hasn’t shown up yet, so I don’t know what the situation is.

We’ve hooked up the laser cutter in a new place and think it should be okay now, we’ll have to experiment…

Our open evening on Wednesday would be the next best time.

Hi there. I’ve just joined and would love to have my hand at the laser cutter. The current state of affairs sounds promising–is she behaving? Is anyone available to do an induction? I have a fair bit of experience testing all the power vs. speed permutations on new materials and am happy to help document if need be.

For the first time in quite a while we are optimistic about the laser cutter :smile:

@unknowndomain (Tom L) and I are going to hash out the induction process tomorrow night, so actual induction sessions should follow soon after. It’ll be a good idea to get experienced laserers trained up so that the pool of trainers can be expanded, so keep an eye out for the announcement!
