Film screenings at the Makerspace?

Yeah, before getting big companies involved let’s work out what we can achieve and what kind of resources we could put for working something out in the run up. Doubly so if we’re tying into a property such as that.

The talk / panel from Ex Machina’s scientific advisor is straightforward, we host the event and ensure we’ve got some good questions to ask.

A show and tell from Double Negative on the film’s effects could also be straightforward, we host and can be open to them suggesting anything further.

A workshop organised in conjunction… gets complicated real fast.

Okay, so the situation is: the Film Festival love our proposed schedule of films and events, but have run out of funds.

They’re going to pay for Ex Machina.

Makerspace trustees are happy allocate some GLA money to another screening.

So we need to decide which.

As I understand it screenings cost approx £150 each.

  • Make the Movie with an afternoon ‘making/hacking’ woekshop
  • The Devil Wears Prada with a ‘make your own clothes’ workshop
  • 9 with an ‘animation for all’ workshop

Our maximum capacity in the space is 60, including ‘staff’, and donations average at £1 per head.

Hey guys, i’m happy to help, but my time will be fairly limited, so it would be good to know
whats expected of me so I can estimate time involvement.

thanks

We could decide by seeing which workshop is the surest bet?

Otherwise, call me captain obvious, but the Make doc seems the call-to-arms we should open our (about to re-open properly) makerspace with.
