@PReardon @robchristopher
Are we still on for next week? Will we be able to source wood, so we can have the sessions Monday Tuesday?

I’m still up for it.

I can see if I can arrange the wood, but this is only two of the 3 sessions, I’m off to Australia for a month not long after these. If you’re still happy with this I’ll see if I can go to the lumber yard and pick some wood up Friday afternoon, if I can get these then we can do Monday and Tuesday next week @robchristopher @Maciej please confirm you’re happy with this

I’m coming back tomorrow from my work trip, and am available pretty much every evening.

Weekend is an option for me as well.

Ok, thanks guys for confirming, I will try to get a car and get the wood Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, if I’m successful I’ll let you know the price of the course (by lunch Saturday) and we can start Monday afternoon

Good news @Maciej & @robchristopher

Still need to work out the cost as some of this will need to be allocated to future inductions (managed to get a discount so wood and delivery came to £221) I’m hoping to be able to make this stretch to 3-4 boards

But will give you a price before Monday’s session and will keep it to under £100 as agreed.

@Maciej @robchristopher I’ve done some math, looks like we’ll hvae wood for 3 inductions (not that we have a 3rd as yet but there will be enough left over for a 3rd)>

I’de like £90 each for the 3 sessions, this will include:

  • Enough Maple and Walnut to build a large End grain Chopping board
  • ~300ml of Chopping board oil
  • Titebond 3 Glue
  • Sandpaper (for the makerspace) for the drum Sander (@mbg as discussed the course will contribute towards the expensive drum sandpaper budget as we will be requiring this machine heavily
  • 3 Sessions as follows
    • Session 1 : Milling and Glueing edge Grain
    • Session 2 : Cutting and glueing face grain
  • Session 3 : Finishing, sanding, and oiling

Cost Breakdown is as follows:

  • Wood, Glue and Oil : £70
  • DrumSander Sand paper : £10
  • Incidentals : £10

If you’re happy with this please transfer me the funds using https://monzo.me/paulreardon/90.00?d=Cutting%20board%20Course&h=vrtP30

yes!

I’m considering coming in for an hour or two today to rip down the wood and prep it for tomorrow and possibly get started on my own next board. @Maciej I understand you wanted to Change the design a little. Could be good to talk about what’s possible.

What time?

I just got here, no stress if you can’t make it

Give me an hour!

Just as a measure of time keeping I spent a little over 5 hours in the space yesterday so I feel that now the design is worked out the first session is 3-4 hours.
