Electronic consumables

@electrotechs Not sure how things work in the electronics area, but are there any consumables that we are allowed to use? Specifically looking for LED strip light connectors like this:

If not, no worries. I’ll get some in from Amazon or eBay.

Cheers.

…unless, of course, we have the relevant components to make our own connectors? If so, will pop along to the next electronics night to give it a whirl!

Usually if is there and there is no one name on it is intended as consumable for the members , AFAIK we don’t have that particular connector

Cheers mate.

I’ve ordered a few from Amazon as well as some LED strips for a project.

One question…I’m looking to include an on/off switch on the strip. The set up I’d like is to have a switch between the female power socket and the strip itself.

Is this possible and relatively easy to do?

that’s reasonable easy to do , maybe you can use and inline switch

An in-line switch or just solder some wires.

Will these sort of things work too?

Apologies if this is schoolboy stuff. Know nowt about electronics!

Yes and you cut the wire and add this in.

There is a big tub full of assorted switches, under the electronics bench I think

Yes , is true and some are beautiful @DAC17 if you come along Thursday I can help you

Cheers mate. Will definitely be coming down to electronics night. Hoping the LEDs arrive before then so I can bring them down to play with. See you there.

There’s a box of white LED strips in the snug, and power supplies somewhere too, though you can run them off batteries pretty easily too.
