I’m looking to make a small tray using the desktop CNC and was wondering if anyone has a bullnose bit I could borrow for an afternoon in the near-ish future? Perhaps one with a 5-10mm radius! I’ve not setup a new bit on vectric before so would appreciate any help regarding how to go about this!

Bullnose as in ball end mill? We have a 5mm in the makerspace already
I may have used a wrong term there actually, I’ve seen it called a bull nose but but can only find out as a bowl and tray bot now - something like this with a combined flat base with outer radiusing
I appreciate the same can be done with an end mill and a ball mill bit, but thought this may be easier without requiring changing bits over. What would your thoughts be?
You cannot use that on the cnc… You have to use the hand router with that tool
On a related note, where’s a recommended place to acquire a V bit for an upcoming project?
Apt shop. Whe do you need? We have some vbit in the makerspace already.
Want a nice finish. Maybe the ones at the space are fine but am willing to get a sharp one for myself
Are you suggesting the cnc tools are not sharp like the table router tools??? Eh???
By the way… They are brand new…
Yeah I realise that one has a bearing on but there are CNC suitable bits like this. Are non-tech members able to programme new bits into vectric, or watch during the process of it being done? Feel like it would be a valuable experience!

Yes the bearing is one of the issue, the second being the tool shaft needs to be up to 6mm in diameter, it cannot be 1/4 of an inch. As far as i remember we don’t have a 1/4 inch collet
If we do… Then it’s a different story, it could be possible.
