As I only had been inducted on the laser I had lasercut the plywood body and laser etched/cut the leather.
The metalware was bought (i hope to make it myself in future) and the brass plate was made on the cnc and finished.
Im not particularly happy about the suede lining but i ran out of time. And suede.
I would like to try again with further iterations from what I have learnt. The veg tan leather has been a bit expensive though.

Amazing! I’m trying to make myself a brass plaque too, so was interested in your method there.
I’ve yet to try the CNC for brass (or aluminium) but it looks proper in your finished piece. So far I’ve tried using metal punches and electo etching, with a pretty low success rate overall

Oh i see. Well Lia is very knowledgeable about the cnc process for brass (it took many laborious hours to cut through the material) and Dave was great at helpling get the finish right.
We did manage to get it to a mirror finish but apparently i am supposed to protect that finish with a layer of something too… I would recommend picking their brains

Thanks @mia for jumping on the opportunity to teach me how to do SMD soldering and hot air rework, and ultimately helping me fix a controller board for an installation at EMF. If it wasn’t for you (and all the other members who also volunteered to help), I would have had to go back to the manufacturer for a costly & slow replacement. Now my installation is saved
