Hey everyone

Woodworking will be going on again this Monday. Feel free to bring your own
projects along or we have plenty of scrap wood for those of you who are
new and would like to practice using hand tools. Anyone who needs key fob access, I can sort this out for you.

Hi,

Will the thickneser be accessible on Monday? Hoping to make a table…

Fingers crossed,
Tansy

I think the thicknesser belongs to @joeatkin2

I put it there for everyone to use. So no problem .

But the blades are on thete last legs if you want to get some feel free , i don’t do intetnet shopping, if not someone will at some point

And when I say last legs i really mean it…

Hello, everyone! I have been busy the last couple of weeks having some interviews and looking for a flatmate too, but think I would be able to come down tonight to work on my project.

Is it anyone else thinking about coming?

Ana

I will be there.

I’ve also been busy flat hunting but will be there on Monday

I intend to pop along this evening. If @sarahbarber is able to sort me out with a key fob then that would be a bonus.

Me too. Keyfob would be excellent. I don’t have a project but would love
the chance to familiarise myself with the space and the equipment.

Yes, you can get keyfob access tonight

A friend has asked me to make her a lamp like this. It looks like it should be fairly simple, I just have to figure out the proportions so it won’t break / flop / fall over.

Route out the base and screw a thick metal plate in?

Yes, that’s going to need some additional weight in the bottom. Or screwing to the floor.

You could drill out some pockets and pour lead in?

Cheapest way is probably to buy a slate of concrete tile (samples from wallsandfloors.com hardly cost anything- also make great cheap cheese boards. Top tip!) and inset it in the base?

I had a go at flattening a board with the thicknesser last night and see what you mean about the blades! I’ve ordered a new pair of blades from eBay, they should arrive in a couple of days so I will bring them next Time I come. If you’re planning to be there next Mon And could show us how to fit them that would be fab.

Thanks everyone for tips about my lamp. Will give it some more thought.

I actually have a big lump of lead that was used as a door stop for years.

can also help to check grain direction.

Brilliant will be there
