Woodshop broken sander belt

I was in yesterday and the belt on the upright sander was torn. This is to be expected and can happen with normal use of the sander. It’s a consumable item, we have spares behind the tool and they’re easy to swap out.

The purpose of this post is to serve as a reminder that if a tool or consumable breaks on you, or you see it in an unsafe state, let the woodtechs know. If you’re not comfortable with the replacement of the consumable, place an “out of order” sign on it as well. Continued use of the sander in that state would have been unsafe.

Also, please remember to make sure the belt is centered and to use extraction when sanding
