@tmilner was working on that but happy to onboard anyone who wants to volunteer
There is another issue: the wood lathe is currently powered directly from the main line rather than through the modbus controlled powerline. This may require rewiring soon…
+3 more years to this project…
Why not just make it work as is, without modbus?
Yeah sorry about the delay everyone. Ive been so busy lately and being forced back into the office a few days a week has really sapped away time I normally use for Makerspace stuff.
I did try to install it a while ago but the wood shop was so messy I couldn’t get close to the box.
But I’m still keen to get it sorted, and I maybe able to do it in the next few weeks. There are only a few tiny things left I need to do that shouldn’t really take any time at all, but to install it I probably need to move the current pi to a different IP and then update the computers using it as a file store to reference the new address. I don’t think I have the right access to do that atm.
Having said that, if anyone else wants to lend a hand please do message me. Having someone else interest may help get the momentum going a bit quicker.
I maybe wrong but I thought there was a commando socket in the area that I was told is for the wood Lathe when it’s on tool control, is that not wired to the modbus? If it’s not, at least it maybe relatively easy to add?
Not my decision
All the cables were fixed on the wall and they are armoured.
The only simple solution I can imagine is to make an extension lead if everyone is happy about it
I don’t remember if I saw any commando socket. If anyone there can find one tonight, it sure make it much simpler
I ask because it is not clear enough that having the basic wood induction is a requirement for the wood lathe.
It is not mentioned on the tool page or on the induction waiting list and some of the inductions sessions have it and others don’t.
We have 8 people that have wood lathe and not basic wood.
Not a big deal but would be good to document it on the tool page and waiting list and each induction session .
Basic wood induction first is a requirement. Let me review the documents to make sure this is clear. Thanks for pointing out
There is a commando socket on the wall ready for the Lathe. Wiring the lathe in it’s straightforward @joeatkin2 offered to do it as soon as tool control is ready.
@sdsefwseghtqfg thanks for looking into this
but is modbus-controlled relay already installed upstream of the commando socket?
Joe would know but if someone tells me channel, I can map the group Id to modbus channel in the proxy
It turns out that that’s no commando socket but an isolation switch, and it’s under the modbus control.
Tool controls were installed and Joe will hardwire the lathe to the switch on Monday.
Good stuff!
Best news ever thank you so much!!!
Excellent
There’s still an issue with the tool control for the wood lathe and I was wondering if you could find some time to take a look at it.
@stefanoromano had connected the lathe to the isolation switch but unfortunately, it didn’t seem to work. I wasn’t there at the time, but it looks like the Modbus-controlled system isn’t delivering power to the switch.
Stefano could you please share more details on what happened?
Thank you.
Just to confirm, someone has mapped the modbus channel in the proxy?
You may want to put in exactly what that means…
It’s the same I’ve mentioned as a required step since the requirements gathering stage Happy to do it or walk someone through it. The prerequisite is knowing which channel the lathe is on.
