When I came in yesterday the screw had detached from it’s (threaded) holder. The screw was also pretty chewed at the end that attaches to handle but still threaded ok.
I was able to remove it and reattach it but it still wants to unscrew whenever you try to remove the main screw. I’m not sure if there is a clever design reason for the part being made of two pieces or if they should just be glued together to lock the threads - or a regular bolt would work.
None of this affects safe running of the lathe, just makes it a lot more awkward to use. <imgsrc="//slms-discourse.s3.dualstack.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/original/2X/d/dece5aa075a6a3af617c439708824c5d4d6a4a1b.jpg" width=“375” height=“500”>
Is this the locking lever that locks the barrel on the tailstock? @Esther_Gladstone highlighted a problem with it at the weekend and @nico.dejong.nz kindly offered to fix it
If it’s the one I think it is it was stiff on Sunday…didnt fiddle with it, used the other levers to compensate…luckily lathe still operable
Ah yeah didn’t see that thread - yes it is that one - I left a bolt with the end of the thread ground down on the lathe bench, will work well as a substitute but will need a spanner.
Yep, that’s the one. Good that it’s out as it was stuck in the lathe, but not really sure how best to fix it. Can some sort of glue do the job?
Ok great well we will use that for now until we can figure out how to fix it.
One has gone on the table saw as well , we should probably find a supplier
