Why do topics sometimes vanish from discourse

I have noticed that sometimes topics just vanish , is it a software bug?

Sometimes topics are merged together, in which case one of the two disappears.
Sometimes redundant topics are deleted for tidiness if they don’t contain anything useful.
Very occasionally, a topic gets moved to a restricted category in which case you can’t see it (eg to a @role’s private category). This hasn’t happened recently as far as I can tell.

Do you recall which topics in particular?

I just checked the list and there have been no topic deletions sence February, which were just tidying up empty/duplicate topics.

Must have been a glitch, or something you missed.
