I’m starting a Wabi-sabi series of wood objects that will naturally deform over time due to a combination of air drying and steam bending.
Does anyone have recommendations on where I can source green oak planks or logs? I’ve come across some older suggestions on our Discourse (such as the National Trust Timber Sale, Gumtree, co-operatives, tree surgeons, etc.), but many of these are now outdated or located too far away.
If anyone has a direct contact for a sawmill, timber service, or tree surgeon selling fresh-cut wood in South London, Surrey, or Kent, I’d greatly appreciate it.
I’ll likely be picking up the wood by car, so if anyone else is interested in getting green wood, feel free to reach out.
