Volunteers needed - help us with wood shop maintenance

We’re looking for volunteers to help us with regular maintenance in the woodshop! We’re hoping to find two or three people willing to help us out.

It will involve working alongside the techs to keep machines in good condition and the workshop a safe environment to make things with.

It is likely to involve an hour or so of helping out every couple of months and would be ideally suited to anyone who’s spent time in the woodshop and wants to help out.

You’d be doing things like oiling bearings, cleaning filters, and flagging stuff for repair or sharpening, following a maintenance manual like this one.

You would need to be:

  • A member in good standing for at least the last six months.
  • Inducted on the tools you’ll be maintaining, including the basic induction.
  • Willing to follow a written maintenance manual.
  • Willing to follow essential safety procedures for maintenance.

If you’re interested please send me a DM confirming how long you’ve been a member and telling us about any relevant experience (e.g. time spent in the woodshop, previous work in the trades, or training in a technical environment).
