I had an old wardrobe that had to be deconstructed, and I noticed that it was solid wood with life in it yet. I want to make a vinyl/turntable stand, with some front-facing record browsing, and comfortable at my height (I’m 6’4). Here’s the kind of thing:
Without my own car, and not wanting to hire a man with a van, I brought the wood on a trailer attached to my bicycle. I certainly burned some calories that day!
After removing the metal fittings…
…I made my cuts on the table saw, and called it a day.
Next:
-
deciding what joins to use. I’m thinking dowel, but there are ample “cam & bolt” fittings left over that I could reuse. If I was careful and used a hole saw it might work.
-
getting the extra wood I need. I think Acre Lane is the nearest. Hopefully bringing that over on the bus, strapped to a hand-truck.
-
assemble main frame
-
shelves
-
dividers
-
sand off, and possibly paint/varnish.
Happy to be back! Probably in on Saturday afternoons. Any thoughts/tips welcome!
