Turning Salt and pepper Mills

Now that I’ve completed L1 and L2 lathe it seems that the most logical thing to do is turn some salt and pepper Mills.

I am looking at the Axminster crush grind mechanisms https://www.axminstertools.com/crushgrind-shaft-284mm-102485

@woodtechs , @lathetechs do we have something like https://www.axminstertools.com/woodcut-mill-drill-504464

Looks like an interesting tool, the alternative would be 25mm, 38mm, and 45mm Forstner bits.

No, but you can hollow it out using the chuck on the drive side before shaping and use a boring gouge from the rotating center, then a drill attachment with Forstner and or spade drill bits. I’ll try to make a tutorial using these or come down when you’re doing this.

I made mine using the drill press with a vice, once clamped it is very fast and easy.

This is interesting! I’d been thinking of like a salt mill to match a pepper mill that I inherited. I wasn’t sure if one could buy the mechanical parts though.
