The great Snug clear-out of January 2018

My thoughts were that we’d likely want to use these lights in the new snug, there are currently no lights in the snug other than above the door, and they’re not bright enough.

We have to use a 400W hot lamp at the moment and that is a fire risk.

I felt that investing in these after the clear out would constitute a good investment for the future and be usable right now.

We aren’t going to do anything until it’s been cleared up so let’s see what is ther

I’ll be down to help just after 11 today

Me too I’ll be there 11am

For rubbish: the clear bags in woodshop are much stronger than the ones in the kitchen.

Tons of progress!!!

This was a couple hours ago… stuff is out to be sorted, pics taken and put back so people can claim… more to come…

There’s a bit of wow factor there!

Welcome to the remixed snug, now with one less dividing wall.

Look - floor space!

You could swing a modestly sized mammal in there now… [after completing appropriate risk assessment]

@Dermot - as you can see the guys from today did well. Unsure if any of us will be there next weekend, so just wanted to hand over where we’ve left it.

We’ve built a temporary rack along the left wall where unmarked sheet material and timber has been stacked for people to collect. Our thinking was if they hadn’t collected by Friday it would be open season. The best thing may be to give people this week to collect and then next week for anyone to take anything that takes their fancy before finally throwing away anything left over the week after that?

We’ve put all named stuff on or around the table as you walk into the snug. Again, may want to give people this week and maybe next week at most to collect or notify intentions?

The right side of the snug was only re-stacked. The next two weekends will require this all being gone through and working out what’s gonna happen with it all. It looks like it’s almost all space belongings, so you’ll have to be ruthless if making more space is the end game. But that’ll be up to you guys that are there for the next two weeks.

We chucked as much as we could. Kudos to @Jackd for doing the run to the dump. Let’s hope we can clear as much as possible and get the snug sorted for whatever comes next.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. It’s @Jackd

I didn’t realise how big the snug is ! It’s been a store since I’ve been here (we used it to store stuff to build phase 2)

Great work so far everyone

Is there anything that I can do this weekend on the 27th to help? Or are we mostly there?

We need to try and get the space back to some normallity especially the clean room as we have meetings on Monday and Tuesday in there.

I can lend a hand this weekend also

How about Saturday afternoon chaps? We need to:

  • Gather items in clean for offer to visiting makerspacers at OWL meeting on Monday night
  • Stack up the numerous clear poly bags ready to take to tip
  • Ideally, take 'em to the tip
  • Sort through and tidy what remains in messy room.
  • Replace items we are going to keep in the new snug storage area.
  • Create an area for stuff people have claimed in “Up for grabs” posts - preferably not in clean room
  • Do a general tidy of messy room, so it is useable for actually making stuff

There is no point in pulling anything more out of the snug until we have waste disposal lined up - there is nowhere to put it, even temporarily.

See you Saturday.

Yes, we will be there tomorrow (Saturday) from about noon onwards - come on down!
