Temporary Door card reader Shade

The card reader doesn’t like the heat. And doesn’t open the door straight away.

My advice is keep your fob on the reader for three or four minutes and it will eventually click.

In the mean time. I’m hoping this temporary shade might help.

Minutes?

Am I being stupid, or is the shutter going to knock that off?

Yes minutes

Honestly it works. Just hold the fob on the reader for about four minutes and eventually…,

…,…click

It’s in direct sunlight all day and just can’t take it.
It was like that Tuesday and Wednesday too.

Maybe something can be laser cut. To give the reader shade.
But not too big to get knocked off by shutter.

Actually the card one I put in seemed to work.
And is not attached. It s just card and has a fold on it that you just hang off the reader.

It just looks crap

Or: White.

Or: MIrror :sunglasses:

We know it needs a new thingy but so far i’ve been a bit busy but if someone wants to order material 3mm acrylic, preferably perspex brand cast acrylic then I can make another one.

White would probably be best.

I’m going to order some acrylic soon for name badges / tommen’s scrap. So I can do that.

any reason its not makerspace red?
[brand identity]

You reckoned that heat is the problem. White is most reflective, so will absorb the least heat from the sun.

If is reflective is not even better? Would be a problem to cut it?

No, just wasn’t sure if there was a metal film making it reflective, would block the RF

Mirror was totally a joke suggestion

can we not just stuff whatever we make it out of with expandy-foam as insulation?

There are no holes inside because it has to be close to the surface and slim to fit behind the shutter.

Can’t we just get a door like at Jabba the Hut?
Grebo can guard the gate. A couple of Gamorian Guards.
Rankor in the snug?

I’ve got a shipment of red+white 3mm (genuine) perspex ordered, earmarked for Makerspace bits’n’bobs, including this.
