One and all, be amazed.
The faceplate got stuck on the lathe. This has happened to me more than once. This time I couldn’t budge the thing with heat or hammering. I made a tool with two bolts (pins) which locate in the holes on the faceplate, giving leverage.
I used a bit of WD40 first and let it sit for five minutes. The wood needs to be removed to gain access.
To my amazement it worked.
I will leave the tool in the corner of the lathe area, beside the logs.
