Space open today?

I saw a booking for the laser cutter for today and was hoping this means the shutter would be open. But discourse is showing the red cross. Before I get on the train, is anyone heading there this afternoon?

Space is currently open, no worries - if there is a booking, there is somebody with shutter access hosting the session. Members without shutter should not “host” a session, only add their name to the tool they want to reserve.

The tick/cross is not the most reliable of indicators.

Usually you can trust the booking system. Enjoy!

For example now - I am hosting but discourse is showing red cross. And yet here I am ! But I have put it in the calendar

sudden random thought would it be beneficial to have a landline (remember those) so that people can phone and check if the place is open? @directors

Is this one not working anymore?

We had one… I think it stopped working at some point though… its by the door to 3d printing, see if it works?

Really we need to fix the X- the shutter bot doesn’t log properly and needs new code, but this is a risky project in case anything goes wrong it may not open…

call me! I’m here right now

no tone when i pick up the reciever but it is there

i can have a look at this next week see if i can get it working again. Feels like a good low tech solution to checking if the space is open for members who travel far

I clearly remember answering the phone some time last year. Somebody called to inquire whether that particular Wednesday was an Open Evening, which it was! \o/

Prolly have to do with Digital Voice?

Makes sense… do we need a new handset? I haven’t had a landline in 20 years! Digital or other…

Not necessarily. Depending on the Broadband we have and the router provided. The “recent” ones usually have either an RJ11 or an ASNQ(*) receptacle for VoIP, so just a matter of replugging, or replacing the router, which should be free, depending on the service we have.

(*) aka the world famous “BT Plug”

We had an engineer out very recently (a month or so) and they replaced the socket:

Phone was not working before that, but just in case it helps, it doesn’t look like there is anything else there to replace…

Manually fixed this for today by adding the missing log entry for shutter up…
