its not in order above.
it would probably have to be more like:
write proposal
start crowd funding
approach major
get land
start work
but there are similar projects out there getting funding.
and they are offering up to £50K at the moment for these kind of projects, using unused land and running projects to build community and good for environment.
They’ve planted a fruit orchard on a plot of land opposite the big church in the middle of brixton, on the island…Matthews church?..they had the boards of the funder’s, can only remember mayor’s office, there were others
Yeah I started collecting organic seeds, with the idea to start a Seed Bank, where seeds could be planted and exchanged, I would like to explore this idea further, thus may fit with your idea @boldaslove.
Let’s do more research
Transition Town Tooting has run a similar project to this for a few years. They are very approachable and would probably be happy to share their experience. I think their land was/is donated by a local owner. Some details of their current program at:
There’s a similar initiative in Stratford, http://www.abbeygardens.org/ - I’m sure they’d share knowledge and resource to help you get something up and running south of the river…
“ABBEY GARDENS – BAKERS ROW, E15
Abbey Gardens is an open-access harvest garden in the East London borough of Newham where anyone is welcome to participate in the communal growing of flowers, fruit and vegetables. Unlike the traditional allotment system, no one has their own patch and everyone gardens together at regular gardening sessions led by an experienced gardener. The produce is shared among volunteers and is also available to the local community in return for donations from one of the garden’s two Honesty Stalls.”
