Hi all!
I have always wanted to make a 3D printed sock knitting machine.
There are files available for free on the internet however it’s quite a big job, would anyone be up for building it together?
We could each 3D print a file?

I’d like to help! One of the sewing techs asked me about making one of these when I first joined the space.

There are a few models available, which do you think we should make?

So much choice :exploding_head:. I can’t tell if one is better than the other? Any thoughts? I missed most of the conversation the other day… was there something about American / UK sized needles that needs to be considered?

I think the one made by mrrobot19 is probably the best one (it has the most makes).
With @textilestechs we discussed the model that’s on sale: https://www.ashcroftmakers.com/products/csm-print-at-home-kit
That requires less DIY
But I think we should try to build it ourselves as cheap as possible

I’m happy with that. When do we start printing and in what colours?

I could start on Saturday with the voron, I’m happy with any colour!

Actually I need to be inducted with the voron first

Super cool!!! I will list the parts that need printing!

Is anyone else in the situation of wanting to order needles from Angora Valley Fibers for this? I’m looking to make one of these too, and have started ordering/printing. I’d like to order the NICE Angora’s needles because they look like they’ll run much more smoothly than the cheap Brother needles, and also have the bump! If anyone else is missing the needles and would like to combine an order to save on postage, I’d be keen!

Maybe but I would like to test the needles we already have!
