Hi, so I’ve been trying to use Heavy Duty Singer (the gray home one) but it’s skipping stitches. Changed needle, screwed the foot and feed dogs (they were both loose) to no avail. It might be a timing issue atp? I’m curious myself what’s wrong with it!
Have you unthreaded and rethreaded both the top thread and bobbin already? And checked the bobbin housing is seated correctly?
yes, I wasn’t using it myself today, just helping @mr_mikeyangel0 cus he noted it was skipping, the thread he initially picked was quite thick, so I thought swapping to thinner one could do the trick, but it was the same after rethreading
Have you checked the tension?
yeah, tried changing it to no avail
For what it’s worth, the makerspace at my old school had a set of this model of machine and they gave us constant problems at random… Sometimes a clean would fix it, sometimes percussive maintenance, sometimes rethreading it 6 times I wasn’t especially convinced about singer’s quality control
The Singer HDs have been going strong - sadly, like many of our machines, they take a beating. I’ll have a look over the weekend - if not they might need to go in for a service
Do you have any recommendations for where to get machines serviced? I have a Bernina Record 830 which I think would benefit from a tune up.
We use Wimbledon Sewing Centre - they are very good
thanks! I’ll take a look at them

Looking fine?
hi, the picture doesn’t load for me wondering what I might’ve been doing wrong the whole time if it works though..
Ah photo borked, either way yeah idk I’d have to see what you did, I just sat down and things seemed fine on single to triple thickness and at fast speed
