Screensaver of projects to run in the space

It would be great to have a screen that slowly cycles through completed projects, with nametags on them. So you can see what people have made, and their name so you could reach out to them if you have questions.

This is because there are loads of people who have niche knowledge and skills that other people would benefit from. I’m imagining a screen on a wall somewhere that turns on when the shutters are raised?

Here is what it would require I think?:
A screen
A shared drive / space to upload photos of completed projects
Something to display the images (Raspberry Pi?) - I’ve got an old desktop PC if that’s of any use?

We could even test it by having one of the screens above the 3D printer computers, to see if people like it? How do I suggest something like this?

I’ve probably got all of the necessary hardware, most I can donate, some might have to be lent to the space, if we haven’t got it already.

Definitely think this is a great idea for the space! Would be nice to show off everyone’s finished projects

We already have a TV in the textile area which can screen mirror. That would seem a good place to start? It isn’t used as much as I had thought when we had it - so could be moved to another area if its needed.

I think the current issue is a computer to host it? And some sort of technical person to tell us if there are any network rules we need to obey?

I’ve got an old desktop machine I’m happy to donate / get out of the house.

Going to summon @emuboy to see if he can point us in the right direction

Both TVs have a Roku stick I donated, and I donated the TV in the social area but that’s a different story.

Roku supports screen mirroring, so, ideally, we could host the calendar somewhere and just mirror it.

OR

We just grab a raspberry pi and do with it .

I’ve got various old to RPIs kicking around and some Orange PIs.

I was planning to use one of them for this.

I’ve also got some old screens, but the 24 inch one offered above is probably better

If no-one else has had time, I’ll look into it after BoomTown.

If there’s a Roku stick, there’s an existing screensaver feature that you can just point it at a google photos account and it’ll scroll through the pics. Then people can just share photos with it. But it does require a google account, and not sure how people might feel about that.

Yes, we have a ‘Latest Projects’ section already on the public website that has not been updated in some time.
