Robots!

Just playing with an idea at the min. My boys school are doing a robot olympiad and I was thinking this could be a good group project for either the Thursday club or a special Saturday event…

Looking into costs but the robot in the picture is mostly laser cut acrylic with an arduino brain. The wheels and motors are standard eBay parts as are the sensors… I’m sure you could get the bits together quite cheaply and only charge minimal amounts to join in.

What do you think? Worth exploring?
Who would be up for a robot day / couple of days to build and play?

Moved to #discussion. A new topic in #events when there’s an actual date & time

I volunteer to cut and print whatever is required.

I like robots. I mentor a team at Sam’s school - maybe I could bring a few of the students down?

That’s also how I got onto these robots, via my eldest sons school (Josh is 12).
How old is your lad ? There are a couple of possible types we could build from Really simple bolt together engineering to a more complex mix of engineering and electronics. The more advanced ones are more fun (and the ones I would propose) as they do more but would require greater skills and/or more hand holding.

My son is six. Maybe a bit young to get started…

The teams I mentor are 16, 17.
