Risk Assessments...fresh baked Risk Assessments!

Pip, Stefano and myself spent a few hours yesterday getting a bunch of RAs finished.

The following are ready:

Drill press (Induction needed)
Cross cut mitre saw (Induction needed)
Chisels
Plane
Handheld Router (Induction needed)
Impact driver
Soldering Iron
Combi Drill
sewing / overlocker machine
Dremel
Hand Saw
Handheld electric jigsaw (Induction needed)
Angle Grinder (Induction needed)
Router Table (Induction needed)
3d printer (Induction needed)
laser cutter (Induction needed)

Note: tools that need inductions can only be used once members have been inducted, or by inductors working on inductions.

Also: some equipment is awaiting braking, tool control and other works.

General safe use and handling of tools and workshop best practice will be covered by general workshop inductions. Details of this to follow from relevant techs.

Freaking awesome!!!

Great work guys!!!

What’s next? Inductions? Do they need writing?

Do the @woodtechs need help with that??

Do we need some kind of spread sheet for the induction waiting lists?

Do the @woodtechs need help with providing the inductions? Could be quite a lot of their personal time going into this stage. If you need our (@members) help let us know…

So back from my hols.
I was thinking of popping down in the next hour or so. If anyone fancies joining to keep the ball moving with these inductions and give me a heads up on where we are at. @members @woodtechs

I’m not a woodtech, but am happy to give some inductions if we need to spread the load…subject to being inducted myself.

Have any inductions been written up etc?

@boldaslove you want to been the guinea pig as I know you live close

I don’t know, but RAs have been completed for the major tools (except table saw). One way to write them is to do them and take notes, I’m happy to take part in that process as an inductee.

That’s what I was thinking too. Just do one and noted own, edit as we go.

So what’s the deal with getting power to the tools @woodtechs or do I need an induction too. When is the next woodworking evening?

Yes pls!!!

I’ld love to get inducted on the drill press, mitre saw, and router!!!
(In that order of preference)
But whatever!!!
Let me know when. I’m off all next week.

There haven’t been any wood work nights.

Ok. Well I’d like to help with the inductions. But firstly I don’t know how to get power to the machines/sockets. @woodtechs @directors Any other @member who wants inducting. Let me know.

I found this as a good guide to an induction form

Am in tonight and tomorrow catch up with me and will show you

As far as I know wood work night is Monday night.
At least it has been when I’ve been down on a Monday recently.

This needs clarification though.

@woodtechs it would be great for everyone to have an update:

  • what can be used right now? Hand tools and benches? Or is a general workshop induction needed?

  • Timeframes for inductions and the restarting of woodworking night seem to be the major questions.

  • what do you need to help make it happen?

I am working as fast as I can hopefully will sit down with pip in the next few days and come up with a road map for the inductions
