This event went really well. Everyone learned tonnes and had a lot of fun.
This was a small group, by design, and they got on very quickly. 5-6 kids, aged from about 7 to 15. We had four mentors.
We were primarily taking a first look at A-Frame (VR stuff ), and I had also built an example of controlling A-Frame with BBC micro:bit, as the kids have done quite a lot of micro:bit already. So they built their first simple worlds, got them hosted, and explored them on Cardboards on their parents’ phones, laptops, and the HTC vive. They mostly managed to teach each other.
We got away with running the HTC Vive in the middle of the room without moving the couches, as the makerspace was so quiet. Only 1-2 people through the doors during our whole session, and the vive wasn’t in use then.
The session-proper finished on time, but some of the mentors stayed around chatting for about 90 more minutes. We would have been a bit noisy had anyone tried to use the clean room with us during the session -
sorry @studionelle if we disrupted you!
