Recycling - Separate Glass, Wood, Food

One of the people from the garbage collection company came in yesterday and suggested that it’d be helpful for them if we’d separate out glass (mostly bottles), wood (offcuts), and possibly food waste into separate bags / bins. I guess it’d be easy to add another glass bin to the kitchen, and perhaps have two bins near the laser cutter (plastics / wood)?

Is that a long distant gate I hear creaking open?

On a more serious level. This sounds eminently sensible.

Slightly ironic as their offer to businesses is the lack of needing to separate waste

However: I’ve noticed that we now have a food bin in the kitchen, so it makes sense to use that – and wood offcuts are mostly from the Woodshop, so come separated already.

Do we produce much glass recycling?

As ever: we can always look at how to produce less waste/recycling of course
