wondered if anyone had any advice converting pallets into an extendable day bed. Something like this:

It looks like they’ve made a pair of square frames for each end and then put boards across the top - using palletwood is probably doable for the top if you have a pop-out support in the middle.
If I was going to try this, I would want to either laminate palletwood into square-section beams to make a frame and then make the seat out of planks laid along the length, or try and find some beam material and use the palletwood for the seat. If you’re just going for the reclaimed wood look then it would help to make the seat out of a hefty chunk of engineered board and cover it in palletwood.
Ahh yes a frame from solid wood with a pallet middle seating. I would actually like to use reclaimed wood and was trying to think of a way to create this function but using pallet wood.
So I jotted this down after I came back from the pub. Basically a laminated lap joint sort of thing - you’d get a nice finger joint effect out of it if it was done neatly. On the figure labelled ii I’ve tried to hatch the endgrain to explain what I’m talking about a bit more clearly. Basically just build up layers until you’ve got the beam thickness you want?

Ok, I’ll look into costings. I just found out my bike is unrepairable so may need to proritise a new bike before a new bed

Aww man, the bloody breaks have gone, there are no sparr parts in whole of Europe! One place has front break parts only i need two at £50 each piece 
so need to think about a new bike I don’t think it’s not cost effective to repair…unless i can get the parts somewhere else cheaper or totally change breaking system…urgh!
