No it’s not the same your ones were pipe threading tools which go from 1/4" to 1 1/4"
Which are used for mainly iron pipe.
@frasco set is the same as the ones that are above the lathe used for putting threads on rods. And threads in holes…

Ahh ok, so Frank is asking for a different product then.
Ok well this pledge came out of a conversation that maybe other members would be interested. It’s all got a little complicated. So I will just buy the set I saw and donate to the space as I have specific project I would like to do with them but it’s not immediately and hopefully someone else can show me how to use them before I get stuck into the project.
@moderators I think this thread can be closed now.
I only see a pledge for £20 (You and @stefanoromano) for the BSP set.
The other tenner is another pledge for a good conventional metric tap and die set. This has taps and dies up to M12. These dies will cut iron (mild steel), BUT -
Steel pipe with cast iron fittings would suite your task and the BSP ( British Standard Pipe) die set is the correct stuff for that. You want a larger diameter for the rail to avoid excesive saggingand hollow to cut down on weight, so you do want to use hollow gas pipe and fittings ( although I don’t think any uses them for domestic gas these days!).
Frank it’s not a problem. I will buy the appropreiate die cutters for my project and donate to the space. I only set up the pledge on the advice of other members. Maybe this thread should be split into another thread for a pledge for the product you are interested in having in the space as they appear to be different.
Hi Chanelle, did you get any further with the thread cutters for pipe?
I have a friend who would potentially buy some furniture from us if we made a proposal to her, ie we could buy the cutters and get our money back by making furniture ASAP. What do you think?
Hi Ross
sorry, i only seem to get notified of posts when I’m tagged almost a year to realize I missed this. No, I didn’t get anywhere with I think it got a little muddled and I layed it to bed as I didn’t have the expertise to know if I was purchasing the right thing.
Pretty sure we have a couple of tap and die sets in the grey metalwork storage. Top right, i think.
Ok cool. I’m revisiting the wardrobe make but will save my questions for peeps in person when I’m next in the space.
Cheers for pointing out.
This is a large bore pipe, see first post. Do we have that kind of size?
Nope, although a truely bewildering collection of small taps are in that shelving unit
Ah right, yeah. M12 looked the biggest at a quick glance
We have a tap and die set but not large enough for pipe
I may not need the die set. Looking at purchasing from this company

Will contact tomorrow and double check.
I have looked at this company in The past also.
Prices are very good and can order various sizes, would make the project a lot easier for you.
