Plaster bat crumbling? + a suggestion

forgot to make this post last week (and get a picture!)

last saturday i was wedging some reclaim on the right-hand plaster bat and noticed some little crumbly white bits getting in the clay. I removed what i could and put it in the bin

i noticed a couple scratches in the middle of the plaster bat which could be responsible - i arranged the reclaim around the scratches, they might have been covered over since then

@CeramicsTechs might be something to check out…

also, ive noticed people using reclaim without wedging it first - maybe its worth including a detail about wedging in the induction, for the safety of the kiln later on

Hi Noah
Thanks for the heads up about the plasterboard. I will have a look when I am next in. Plaster in clay is very bad. Wedging is recommended, especially for the reclaim. We already mentioned it at the inductions when we have total beginners.

Will stop by at the space today or tomorrow - can definitely inspect both boards and remove if chipping - can also have a go at making a brand new bat
