I was trying to use the planer this evening and all my boards were coming out convex. About 1mm over 1 metre. @Destom had a go and got similar results.
We had a look at the tables and they clearly seem off. With half of the veritas straight edge referencing on the outfeed and the other tip of the edge touching the infeed i get about a .7mm gap just in front of the cutters.
Ok, if I’ve got you correct then this is a shimming issue I think (and may have been there a while as we didn’t touch it when I fitted the new blades).
This is probably easier to discuss with the board and planer in front of us… I’m down Thursday night if you happen to be around (we can talk over the maintenance stuff too).
Thank you for flagging and we’ll take a look this week.
I was also getting some slightly odd results using the thicknesser on Sunday, although that might have been because I hadn’t noticed the flat faces had warped very slightly since I planed them. The thicknesser was trying to pull the planks in at an angle every time I fed a plank in though which doesn’t normally happen.
Pulling towards the right? We had this when I was in last weekend, I was hoping it was a blade issue and swapping them would fix it (as indeed it seemed to for me…)
At least some of the stickiness should be down to the knives - those are now changed (hopefully this is just chasing down the last of the setup issues).
Using the thicknesser today, the boards are going straight for most of the cut, and then they consistently do a very slight clockwise pivot on the very end. It doesn’t seem to affect the flatness of the boards. My guess is an uneven pressure on the outfeed roller. No issues with boards getting stuck at all.
