Old paper speaker drivers

does any one know a good place to buy old paper speaker drivers? either in central london or online.

one of my old 70’s bAndO speaker drivers has gone, on my record player.
i want to get a new pair. as matching would be a ball ache.
i want something that sounds full and rich. i find new ones tinnie and flat.

i don’t really want to spend more than £30.

size 4x6 inches

any ideas? ive searched ebay and amazon and google already quite a bit so vague comments about looking on ebay might not get a reply  . already tried a couple of places including bAndO shop.

even thinking about taking a punt on some old speakers and ripping out the drivers.

Speakers are a science, not an art, so it should be possible to match the broken part quite well. Try and get some photos of part numbers or specifications on the broken drivers.

https://www.bluearan.co.uk/ has a wide range of drivers, but 4x6" sounds like a weird size. Not circular?

These pics might be useful

None available we can measure the good one or just take a guess

I have said that I will take a guses and try to find one

I managed to find Thiele/Small parameters for this driver (lucky find!)

It’s the numbers on the right that matter

R(e) = 3.669 Ohms
F(s) = 133.9 Hz
Q(ts) = 1.166
Q(es) = 1.825
Q(ms) = 3.233
L(e) = 0.336 mH
M(ms) = 2.994 grams
V(as) = 0.2766 litres

You should be able to get similar data from manufacturers of modern drivers in order to find a clos-ish match.

Well found

Its truly horrible. …

Maplin do a 8r unit

Try http://www.henrys.co.uk/#

Yeah, I gotta say if you prefer the sound of these to modern speakers, you must have heard some rubbish modern speakers

(I realise it’s subjective and everything, but you’re missing a lot of the music with speakers like this)
