Hi, I’m interested in the open evening this week. I’d also like to bring my son (8). Is that possible? Is there a policy?
Having looked through the discourse history it looks like membersrr have brought minors in previously but I just wanted to be sure rather than being turned away.
I’ve not visited SLMS before but I understand it’s a working space with heavy machinery and that I would need to be responsible for my child and ensure he understood boundaries necessary for everyone’s safety.

You’re more than welcome to bring minors to the Makerspace open evening, just bear in mind that some areas are hazardous (machinery, trips, people moving around and working on projects, etc.) so we strongly encourage keeping an eye on them!
Needless to say they cannot join as a member until they’re 18

Probably the biggest risk to consider is in Arch 2, particularly things like the Table Saw, which depending on your childs height might be far more dangerous for them as a kick back incident could hit them in the head rathr than led/waist.
