Does anyone have a source of these little lead acid batteries? I believe they are routinely used in burglar alarms, emergency lighting etc and are chucked away when they get to a certain age while they still have life in them.
Just had one confiscated at the airport. I still maintain I should have been allowed to fly with it but didn’t want to disagree with the man with the uniform and the gun.
Halfords have them (and many many more sizes) although not the best prices.
When I was building suitcase boomboxes, I found the best price was direct from Yuasa https://www.yuasa.co.uk/np7-12.html but it looks like they don’t do direct sales any more.
Perhaps the answer is boring or not for public, but what were you taking on the plane that needed such a thing? I’m guessing it wasn’t “burglar alarms, emergency lighting etc.”…
There is burglar alarm shop near me. If I get a chance while they are open I will ask if they have any that they chuck out if that’s what you’re after. If so are you fussy about size/capacity.connector layout?
Yes you should be able to travel with sealed (glass matt?) type batteries but none seems to follow or know the rules. I have flown with a Lithium bike battery in my hand luggage that was way over the capacity limit because of this.
Yes, it needs to be this specific physical size and voltage.
Slightly boring but I bought a camping solar power system on holiday and was trying to bring it home. Maybe if I’d checked the battery in or left it in the equipment then I’d have made it through…
