Nip the point off a (blunt but pointy) sword

Hi, I’ve got a sorta cutlass type thing that I want to use with my fencing club (www.the1595.co.uk. Old timey fencing with big ol’ swords!)
Problem is, this thing is safely dull on the edge but comes to quite an aggressive point. I need to cut that off and round out a new tip so that I can use it in class.
I tried this yesterday with both a hacksaw and a reciprocating saw at home and managed to only get half way through it before both saws were completely blunt.
Is anyone going to be around on an evening/weekend who can supervise me doing this, or take me through it or whatever the procedure is when I’m not yet inducted?
I’ve done this before on another sword and it’s somewhere in the 10-30 minute region with the right tools

Cheers
Dan

Angle grinder to the rescue! I will be around later on but probably not until 10pm? Or Friday night… 9:30… those work?

Thank you for supervising me on the big(ish) boy tools, it’ll be a joy to be stabbed with that now!
