It appears that we currently have no functioning fans in the space. We had four fans at the space last year, but I only see two and they are broken. If someone has an extra fan at home or @directors, could we replace the broken /missing fans?

Please. I was there all day and it was very unpleasant verging on dangerous. The lack of airflow/fresh air plus this temperature is unbearable
Are there any vents to outside that might be covered up at the moment? Or any windows?
Also apparently this morning when opening up the toilet absolutely stank the place out
Lets bin the broken fans and please purchase 5-10 industrial fans from screwfix/tool station. Distribute them around the space, That will do the job.

Do we know what killed the round floor fan? Was working a week ago no?
Can I suggest we also try and do some light weight work to pump some air in from outside as we’re otherwise propping the doors open all summer still which is a security risk and we keep seeing stuff stolen and having occasional reports of weird people.

Yeah we need to devise a plan in general for refreshing the air in there.
The large round floor fan is still going but its 1. Massive and unwieldy and 2. the only fan in the whole space that works

Can I suggest we install some ceiling and wall fans, rather buying more floor clutter?

The mains cable is damaged the fan works.
We just need to install a turbine ventilator.
It’ll extract hot air without the need to leave the door open and will also work when the shutters are down.
There are two spots where they can be located. One in the clean room and the other in the metal workshop.
The one in metal workshop wouldn’t need any permanent alterations and can be tested first to see how well it will perform for a given size.

1 or 2 summers ago I got about three quarters of the way through installing a big extractor for the woodshop, but then I needed to order some parts and never picked it back up again
Wouldn’t solve arch 1, but would improve things in the woodshop a fair bit and cut down on dust in the air as well. It’s the same type of motor that we used for the welding extraction so it should shift quite a lot of air - next time I’m in I’ll figure out what exactly needs doing and actually order the ducting needed

Hi Sean, I’m about to start a project (with work) that will involve stripping out some fairly new ductwork that was undersized (I think it’s mainly 250 dia spiral duct). I could see if we can salvage it if you think it might be of use? The project is near Bloomsbury and the stuff would need to be collected, but I’m happy to help facilitate if I can.
Happy to have a some new fans to be bought for the space if you can find them in stock. I would be reticent installing ceiling mounted fans at the moment.
@joeatkin2 - seeing as you are going through the EICR at the moment, would this be feasible / complicate things as I know there are some possible remediation works in the clean room you mentioned.
@Sean - do you have a BOM for parts needed to fix/complete this for arch 2?
@ayodeji @Sean @joeatkin2, any chance we can pull all three of you together and get a proper full-space solution for this? It’s only going to get hotter 
Does it just need patching or a full re-wire? Either way it’s 5 min work, I’ll happily take it on.
Do we know anything about why the others have died? They are normal consumer ones, so worth just buying more, but maybe @electrotechs could look at them tonight during electronics evening?

I’ve spoken about other infrastructure work with Joe a few times recently including this week and he’s repeatedly said he won’t do any new major work until we have certainty about where we’re going to be based as the Arch Co wants to inspect the arch which means demolishing tens of thousands of hours of voluntary labour over the past 12 years.
Please can we not allow this topic to go down the typical makerspace avenue of it ballooning into a project that becomes too complicated with too many cogs and people and thus never gets finished.
@directors Please can we have authority and budget for someone who does supply procurement (Someone please tag John I cant seem to find his username) to order as many wall mounted fans as possible for the space, ideally 1-2 per room. and then we can install per room/department.
There is currently 3 units left in stock for the option Tommie linked. Please can we snap them up ASAP as a start?

Not to hand, but if I remember right it was a couple of pipework joints - the fan itself is already up in the ceiling above the wood lathe in a box I built
I’m away until Tuesday but I’ll take a look when I’m back - we’re probably talking in the region of £60 + postage
100% agree with Charles - going to keep the scope as limited as possible and actually finish it before moving onto anything else, we have a really persistent habit of trying to do massive mega reworks that lose momentum and end up never being finished
@UnicornStrike I’m happy to pitch in some time to try and get arch1 sorted - I think what we talked about previously was 2 new pipe runs all the way to the front from the textiles room, 1 extract & 1 intake to let us have some fresh air in there that’s not drawn from the main room

for what is worth, if the fans are connected to a normal 3 pin plug into a socket, they are not part of the fixed wiring, so effectively not there for the purpose of an EICR
