Need help with 3D printing (castable filament)

Tags: #<Tag:0x00007fa4a3ac2ca0>

The finest detail would be from a resin printer using castable resin. That has fewest steps to the final cast. (And we may soon be getting a nice new resin printer).

Hi Sam!
I’ve bought this polycast) Is it possible to take some of your time to test it with Bamboo? If so, which day is more suitable for this during next week?
Or maybe someone from 3D team (I have no Idea how to mention persons who are in charge) would have some time to figure it out?
Or I can arrive 26 may, if you have some time after the induction you are holding?

Hi  if you would like to talk about moulds I do a lot of them plaster/ silicone/ latex/ also I have cast with PLA so if you would like to have a natter over a cuppa I can be around . Keep well . Brian D=

This might be out of date, but there are 2 Bambu printers, but the form only shows one. When there’s only one listed, and it’s in use, I’ve been messaging that person to check they didn’t need both, then adding the other on. It’s made getting a spot virtually guaranteed.

Good news! The booking template has two slots now, not sure when that got added.

Hi Anastasiia,

Yes after the induction on the 26th sounds good. There will be quite a lot of things we need to cover in order to fully profile the filament for the finest level of detail. If you ever need to get our attention add @3dtechs to the post to tag us. Ill have a look through the data sheets when I get a moment.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Brian, WOW! That’s sound exactly as smth I need!) Are you going to be at the space at 26May? I have some ideas about molds and I would love to collaborate with you!

Hi Sam,
Thank you so much, I’ll be there! see you soon!

Thank you for the info about mentioning you, I tried once but the platform told me “you are going to notify 200+ people, are you sure”, and I was afraid hahah

Ahh that’s the difference between tagging all the technicians and tagging everyone who is inducted on the 3d printers

How did the test printing go with the polycast yesterday?

Hi Dan!
It was really good - because of Sam, Sam thank you so much again!
Sam did some magic settings to be sure that we are not about to broke bamboo printer hahah. Sam changed nozzle temperature and something else inside the programm (it was not bamboo slicer but orca slicer (funny, I don’t know why I can’t find it on my laptop now, we’ve set a special settings for this filament type)

I’ll let you know about casting process when I cast them in my favourite casting company!

Would you post some photos with close up shots of what you printed with Polycast - be interesting to see the detail it gives.

Hi Brian, it was nice to have a chat with you! please see this link with jewellery mould type - what do you think?) is it something you are familiar with? https://www.instagram.com/reel/C40GBHMJW1x/?igsh=dTlkaHQ1cThmczFs

Hi Anastasila, yes im familiar on the process , you could also use silica sand process as well or even hot melt rubber that will stand high temperatures that could also be cast in to . I will be in tomorrow evening and around on Sunday and Monday daytime . Keep well . Brian D=

Yes! please enjoy this photo review. I understood that I need use “auto placement” of objects carefully, because it’s not the best result sometimes, when the slicer app makes auto-positioning for printing, Also I understood that any type of support (we used Three support) should starts outside of ring’s parts.
you also can see a picture where there are two rings with almost the same design, but one of them is lavender colour - this lavender one was ordered and made by pro3dshop, they used castable wax and you can see the difference. I’m looking forward to attend a resin printer induction, because now I want to try this opportunity as well! BUT when I ordered few rings in pro3d shop in castable resin, they told me, that I have only 3 days to cast them or my pieces start getting smaller (physics is crazy).

Hi Brian!
I hope to visit the makerspace these days, but anyway, if you do make moulds like on the video I’ve sent, how much does it cost to order?)

Hi Anastasiia, I will have a look in to it for you . Keep well . Brian D=
