Most affordable way to get some 3d printing done

Hi

I am not a member, so I can’t use your tools (signed up, but hadn’t started paying before the membership was closed).

I want to build a Vorpal Hexapod (vorpalrobotics.com).
I estimate the print will take 31 hours.
I’ll be using PLA or PETG.

I have looked at www.3dhubs.com and similar, but I was wondering if this community had any other/specific recommendations for outsourced 3D printing?

Thanks
Brendon

Hi Brendon,

I have the same problem, signed to the forum almost a Year ago, but didn’t pay the fee in time, and now I’m out :frowning:

Hoping that they will re-open the subscriptions, (this place really is unique and amazing, one of a kind in South London), in the meanwhile, i was looking to buy a 3D printer, looked at copy of Prusa i3. What’s the biggest piece for your project? The one I want to buy can print up to 200x200x200, if that is enough, you can contribute to the purchase with 15 pound plus the filament cost if you want, that will be very cost effective for you, and help me with buying the printer.

Hi Brendon,

I’m laurent the 3dtechs here at SLMS, I’m running a small printing services and could print this for you if you are interested. I’ll be able to get back to you with a quote on Tuesday as I’m visiting family for my daughter birthday at the moment and will be travelling tomorrow so if I got time I’ll start to look into it later this evening.

Can you confirm this is the list of files you’ll want printed.

In regard to material I think PETG would be wiser to use for most part and PLA could be used for certain part that don’t require much strength resistance. Just let me know the colour you desire and I’ll take care of the rest.

Hi Valentino,

Can you share some details about the kit you are interested in. Alternatively I could sell you a Kit or even a calibrated and assembled printer depending on your budget.

Hi Laurent,

I didn’t wanted to overcomplicate my message, but i actually have a bit of knowledge in CNC and chances are that in the end I will be making the machine on my own,

I found a great site (motedis.co.uk) who sells 2020 extrusion and linear rails, good quality made in German and they have all i need.

I have alredy designed the project on Sketchup with all the parts, now is just about deciding what to do.

If i buy, i will go for a Anet, or if budget allow I’ll get a Creality for the bigger printing sizes.

If only i could get the subscription to SLMS…

Thx for sharing the website that provide the extrusion. The price is unbeatable despite the expensive delivery. If you decide to make an order let me know and I’ll happily jump on it and we can split the shipping.

Good luck on your build

Hi

Thanks for responding. Yes, those are the parts. However, note that there is one file with all the legs in, and other files with each leg separately.

PETG sounds good. In terms of colours, I was thinking grey/silver, or white.

Thanks
Brendon

Thanks Dermot,

I did so, hope that there will be a spot for me soon,

In the meanwhile, is it ok if i come have a look during the weekend or some evenings?
