Hi Sarah, do you know what model the mitre saw is? There are a few youtube videos introducing various saws whifh I thought we could link to, just as a way of providing an outline of what they do and how to operate them safely.
This seemed like a good safety video about mitre saws, maybe watching it during/before could form part of the mitre saw induction?
I think it’s this one:
Thanks. Instruction manual here:

done.
I said I think… @Dermot might know for sure
don’t worry it won’t take much to change if it turns out to be a different model.
@Rs1771 Hi Richard, you have the right model.
For those that need it here is the link to the page for the Mitre saw: https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/t/compound-mitre-saw-hitachi-c8fse/557
Hi Sarah, were you saying you now think the band saw is member-owned?
On another topic, here is a list of a very basic hand-tool set up

And here is the same woodworker’s slightly more extensive, but still basic, list of recommended tools:

A post was merged into an existing topic: Spend Some Money - Woodwork Edition
yes the bandsaw is makerspace-owned
Hi this looks like something we should make for the dusty room. http://fixthisbuildthat.com/diy-downdraft-sanding-table-box/
Nice idea. Could be built into the Bench Of Wonder along the wall.
Stefano has built the prototype and it looks like that box would be a good fit
Hand plans and jigs will be available from me when the workshops is finished and when a significant number of members are prepared to do GBH to anyone who does bad things to them . Maybe a special induction is in place and a locked box for “good tools”
Hackspace have this system for some of their nice toys. It’s a good idea.
btw. we have money allocated in the GLA funding for hand tools, so have a think on what you’d like to buy.
Will have to sort what we already have first
Honestly nothing is Makerspaces
