This is a really cool technique.
I posted my first attempt with some lessons learnt.
I have left 8 sheets of ply and 8 sheets of aluminium foil in the laser shop shelves.
Feel free to help yourself to the materials and give it a go!

The packet of samples has disappeared from the laser store.
