Mini CNC 1/4" Collet

Hi all,
I’ve got a 1/4" CNC router bit i wanted to use in the mini CNC. I didnt think id have any issues as theres a 1/4" collet in the collet set but i couldnt get the bit into the collet once the collet was in the collet nut.
I checked the Mini CNC manual and it said the CNC would only take collets up to 6mm. Do we have a clever way of getting round this or is the 1/4" collet a redundant part?
@CNCtechs any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks for pointing this out. I don’t have tons of experience on the Mini. Once you start turning the collet holder into the router it tightens. Is it possible you had it turned a bit too much and so the bit didn’t fit?

Maybe the other techs have come across this.

I thought of this but i couldnt fit the bit with the collet nut entirely separate from the CNC

The 1/4" (6.35mm) collet is indeed part of the set and should work. Either it has been squashed previously from misuse on a smaller tool, or maybe your tool is a bit oversized, try measuring using the caliper and make sure the exact size.

It might just be tight in which case putting the collet together and then inserting the tool before threading into the spindle may help…
