I would support the storage of this in the snug for future use.
Ditto. If space can be found, it deserves be kept.
There is probably space to wheel it in after some minor shuffling.
It will need a ramp though. Preferably remove able. Fancy making a ramp any one?
Happy to hear its staying. There will be more space in the snug after some hippo bag clearing out
Ramp just needs a piece of wood nailed to a board, i’ll do it later in the week
We really need better decision making processes than this.
I like the idea of us having welding. But that’s not really the point.
It seems like there is a logical process going on, the machine is a good machine and will be useful when we get a metal working area.
We don’t have space for it to be used right now, but come September we’ll start the conversations with the Landlord that lead to us understanding whether we can stay in the long term, it seems like at that point we need to actively recruit up to the number of members needed to take over another arch as there isn’t enough space.
On that note, where are we at this point on the governance issue? This seems to have stalled.
Looks like it will do for now, we can move it into a better location in future.
I’m not sure about the ‘until further notice’ date? Feels like its open ended but isn’t.
Would it be best to say October 2016? Then we know it can stay till then, no more fussing, and we’re likely to have some sort of roadmap of our future, or parhaps a workable solution in our current space?
Further notice means, until the governance at the time dictates it should be removed and gives notice.
Yes, it wasn’t that I didn’t understand the expression. I was just suggesting it was made firmer. As it stands notice could be given tomorrow…
For me it feels like thats just plucking a number out of the air.
That doesn’t seem terribly unreasonable, but I’d be keen to hear what other members think. If for some reason heaven forbid, we’re still not clear on a roadmap by October I’d hate to have to pettyfoggle about this again. ‘Until such time as a clear commitment that it’s not wanted’ as a product of ‘we’re not going to expand and welding is verboten’ is how I feel. Anything other is kind of picking a deadline for the sake of piling a deadline.
To be clear, I’m aware that what I suggest above is not entirely reasonable, but I also think red tape for the sake of red tape is too. Neither Joe not I are interested in making this a big deal, we just think it’s a cool tool that it’d be a mistake to lose.
If everyone is happy as is then leave it as it is.
Personally I’ve always been in favour of welding, that has never been a secret.
It’s stored now. If it’s in the way, then we tackle it when space becomes an issue.
Thanks, I know this hasn’t been as smooth as it could be, And I’m sorry if my behaviour has been seen as brusque. i’m just keen we avoid red tape and avoid mistakes through a blind commitment to red tape.
